West Virginia University School of Music faculty member and recording engineer, Mark A. Benincosa II, has had a song placed in an internationally released video game. The song, titled, 8-Bit Rage, was performed by Benincosa and his band, Black Hole Zion. 8-Bit Rage was taken from their full length album, The Great Repression, released in August 2017.  The heavy electronic rock song is being featured in the video game, Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition. The track is the theme and entrance music for the team, Cracksumskull Jugulars. The game launched on 10/31/18 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam/PC.

Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition is a cartoonishly brutal arcade-style football game. The game features Dynasty Mode, a single player experience where you become the coach and GM of your favorite Mutant Football League team and take a group of unproven rookies and turn them into monstrous all-stars by winning multiple Mayhem Bowls over several seasons to become the league’s next Dynasty. It includes multiple season gameplay, player trades, cumulative player experience (XP), salary management, custom playbooks and free agent signings.

Benincosa composed and performed the soundtrack for the video game, Stunt Runner, which released last year on Jump Gaming. He was also in the news this past January when he and fellow music faculty member, Lucy Mauro, traveled to the 60th Annual Grammy Awards for their work on the album, Mademoiselle:  Premiere Audience.
