Department of mathematics to host first High School Actuarial Day

The department of mathematics will host the first High School Actuarial Day Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Armstrong Hall.

The purpose of the event is to expose high school students to the actuarial profession as a career choice. There will be general sessions including guest speakers in the morning, and hands-on problem-solving activities related to the financial mathematics in the afternoon. The event is free, and deadline to register is Oct 31.Sign up early, as space is limited.

The department of mathematics has developed a strong actuarial science program that prepares mathematics students to take and pass actuarial exams before they have graduated and a very active actuarial club that seeks out internships, etc.  Learn more about the actuarial club.

The general sessions in the morning are open to the public. All WVU students are encouraged to attend.

Parents, siblings, teachers, and freshmen are welcome.
