Two poster presentations from WVU Dermatology department tied for first place at the 2018 West Virginia Dermatological Society Conference held at the Greenbrier Resort. Both posters discussed the discovery of mutations in a gene that cause a specific type of cutaneous cyst to develop in about five percent of the U.S. population. One of the posters was presented by researcher Rachael Hagen while the other poster was presented by Jessica Patterson, a fourth-year medical student. Each presenter was awarded a $500 cash prize. The research was led by Dermatology Department Chairman, Dr. Michael Kolodney.
