Associate professor of musicology to host concert, book launch

Travis Stimeling portrait.

Travis Stimeling, associate professor of musicology and director of the WVU Bluegrass and Old-Time Bands, will host a concert featuring singer-songwriters Todd Burge, Dan Cunningham, Maria Allison and Chris Haddox at 123 Pleasant Street on Sept. 11 from 6 to 9 p.m.

This event will celebrate the publication of Songwriting in Contemporary West Virginia: Profiles and Reflections, Stimeling's latest book published by West Virginia University Press.

Songwriting in Contemporary West Virginia: Profiles and Reflections is the first book dedicated to telling the stories of West Virginia’s extensive community of songwriters. Based on oral histories conducted by Stimeling and told largely in the songwriters’ own words, these profiles offer a lively overview of the personalities, venues, and networks that nurture and sustain popular music in West Virginia.

This concert is free and open to the public.
