West Virginia University’s Public Rapid Transit, now equipped with new train system controls, gates and signs as part of a multi-year modernization plan, will operate in two modes, “Express” and “All Station,” on home football game days beginning Saturday (Sept. 8).
The Express mode is a non-stop station-to-station service while the All Station Mode will be operated with stops in several stations. During pregame, the Express mode will be operated from Walnut, Beechurst, Engineering and Towers stations to the Health Sciences Center (football stadium). After the game, the Express mode will be operated from the Health Sciences Center to Walnut, Beechurst, Engineering and Towers stations.
The PRT central control operators will monitor crowd size as well as demand and appropriately assign PRT cars to their destinations.
As with any new system integration, we may experience some unanticipated scenarios. We will make every effort to minimize disruption.
Please allow extra time to get to and from Milan Puskar Stadium and remember to follow the safety tips and instructions/signs posted on the platforms/vehicles.
WVU and Mountain Line buses will supplement transportation to or from the stadium should PRT service be unavailable.
