Intermediate Python Workshop to be held at Downtown Library

This one-day workshop sponsored by the Research Office and University Libraries is intended to be a follow-up to the introductory workshops conducted through Software Carpentry. The aim of this workshop is to cover topics in Python at a higher level than that covered in the SWC Python workshops. Offered at the Downtown Library (L104) May 30, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is $5 and covers bagels and coffee. Tickets are available at this website.

• Introduction to Jupyter Notebooks

• Introduction to data frames

• Loops and conditional statements

• Numpy arrays

• Plotting in Python (with matplotlib)

• Functions in Python

• Errors in Python and stackoverflow

• Regular expressions and interacting with filesystems

• Executing Python programs from the command line
