The May Science on Tap talk is being given by Jim Rye, Professor Emeritus from the WVU College of Education and Human Services and Kristin Stansbury, 4th Grade Teacher at North Elementary School. The talk is titled "From GigaPan to Parthenocarpic Cucurbits: Enriching STEM Education through Garden-Based Learning for Elementary Students."

At North Elementary School in Morgantown, garden-based learning has been integrated with curriculum to enhance STEM education. Students carry out extended investigations in which they study structure and function and change over time while engaging in various science and engineering practices. "GigaPan" robotics camera technology has been utilized to enrich garden-based learning. This presentation will showcase applications of GigaPan and a project that employed GigaPan as part of a long-term investigation of cucumbers.

The talk is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Morgantown Brewing Company, 1291 University Avenue. The event is free and open to the public.
