Crowdfunding campaign underway to support WVU Medicine Children’s

A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to benefit the Child Life Program at WVU Medicine Children’s.

The campaign, launched on April 11, will run for 30 days and benefit various aspects of the Child Life Program which helps patients and families cope with the stresses of hospitalization.

The program also provides support, education, recreation and assistance to patients and families both before and during a child’s stay.

“The Oliverio family has always been proud to support the life-changing work being done at WVU Medicine Children’s. This is not only a benefit to those of us here in Morgantown, but for the entire state and region,” said Mike Oliverio, project creator and WVU alumnus. “The Child Life Program normalizing the hospital experience for these kids is truly a great asset and I would love to see the state rally around this cause. And I think it is great that 100 percent of these donations go directly to the program, making an immediate impact.”

The Child Life Department provides various activities for children during hospitalization, helping children and families maintain normal living patterns while also helping to cope with new and stressful circumstances.

Advancing WVU is a crowdfunding platform to help members of the WVU community raise money to advance education, research and patient care at WVU – including those focused on student groups, student experiences, athletics, or healthcare initiatives.
