WVU employees who don’t have two-factor authentication in place will be unable to log into dozens of secure systems, including web access to Office 365/Outlook email and Pay Statement, after 8 a.m. May 10. Information Technology Services had set an employee deadline of today (April 27), but many have yet to sign up. We plan no further extensions, so see your local IT support team immediately if you need assistance or contact Information Technology Services.
To enroll, go to login.wvu.edu on your laptop or desktop computer and select “My Login.” Enter your WVU credentials, click “Enroll in Duo 2-Factor” and follow the steps to add your mobile device. Be ready to download the free Duo Mobile smartphone app during this process, and make sure to allow notifications.
If you don’t have a smartphone, speak to your supervisor about hardware alternatives that are available in Mountaineer Marketplace and Barnes & Noble campus bookstores.
On May 10, everyone with an employee role in our identity management systems, including student workers, will be automatically enrolled in the Duo Mobile security program.
Why is WVU doing this? Passwords can be and are compromised regularly. They’re no longer good enough when it comes to protecting personal, sensitive or financial information. A large security breach could affect both WVU’s finances and reputation, while the personal information of individuals could also be at risk. Learn more at twofactor.wvu.edu.
