The Figure Skating Club will perform in shows at the Morgantown Ice Arena Thursday and Saturday (March 22 and 25).
On March 22, the club will perform a brief program before inviting audience members to skate. A fundraiser for the club, the event will last from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature food, a hot chocolate bar, raffles and more. Admission is $5 plus $3 for rental skates.
On March 25, from 4:15 p.m. to 5:05 p.m., WVU skaters will join members of the Mason-Dixon Figure Skating Club in a “Skating for Gold” showcase.
Tickets to the show are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under and are available at the door.
“If you haven’t seen the WVU Figure Skating Club perform, you’ve missed out—but it isn’t too late,” said Mark Brazaitis, a professor in WVU’s Department of English and the club’s adviser. “Our skaters are tremendous artists and athletes. The community will have a great time watching them and an even better time skating with them.”
“Skating for Gold” will showcase the talents of the area’s best skaters, including two past presidents of the WVU Figure Skating Club, Angela Barclay and Gina Geils, as well as up-and-coming skaters.
WVU figure skaters who will participate in the shows are Terezia Galikova (Morgantown); Lindsay Hoke (Charleston); Caroline Leadmon (Hurricane); Kristin Moro (Roseland, New Jersey); Anne Roth (Fairfax, Virginia); Melanie Quick (Flemington, New Jersey); Alexis Sole (Cleveland, Ohio); and Devan Tighe (Charleston).
The Morgantown Ice Arena is located at 1001 Mississippi Street, near White Park.
