TRIO students plan service project at the Shack Saturday

Students from West Upward Bound, Student Support Services and previously funded McNair Scholars programs will participate in team-building and community service activities as part of National TRIO Day Saturday (Feb. 24). The day enables students who have benefitted from TRIO programs to give back to their communities. Students will go to The Shack Neighborhood House for cleaning, organizing, painting, and working on beautification projects. In addition to these activities, Student Support Services is currently running a donation drive for The Shack and will deliver the items collected on Saturday. The collection box is located in the Student Support Services office in G-30 Mountainlair. Upward Bound works with 60 high school students from Grafton and Preston high schools to help them overcome social, academic, and cultural barriers to higher education; Student Support Services works with 206 undergraduate students to help them persist

and graduate from college; and WVU McNair served a cohort of 25 undergraduate students to prepare them for doctoral studies and graduate school.
