WVU’s Advocates and Allies and Humanities Center to host panel on role of male faculty after #MeToo

The WVU ADVANCE Center’s signature initiatives program, Advocates and Allies, and the WVU Humanities Center will host a panel discussion on the role of faculty members in preventing sexual harassment on campus. The event, “How not to be a bystander: The role of male faculty after #MeToo,” will be held on toda (Feb. 19) from 4 p.m. to-5:30 p.m. in the Mountainlair Rhododendron Room.

The panel will be moderated by Ryan Claycomb, director of the WVU Humanities Center. Panelists include:

Amena Anderson, visiting assistant professor, Leadership Studies

Walter DeKeseredy, professor, Anna Dean Carlson Endowed chair of social sciences, director, research center on violence, Sociology

Professor Kendra Fershee, associate dean for academic affairs, College of Law

Cris Mayo, director of the LGBTQ+ Center

Sam Wilmoth, Title IX education specialist, Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Panelists will discuss the roles that faculty of all genders can play in creating and maintaining equitable and safe work environments, and how male faculty in particular might adjust to the current climate in the wake of the exposure of many prominent sexual harassment cases across the U.S. There will be an opportunity for questions and open discussion following the panel.
