Dr. Habib Zalzal, PGY3 Otolaryngology, was first prize winner of the G. Slaughter Fitz-Hugh MD resident research award at the prestigious American Laryngological, Rhinological and Otological Society in Scottsdale, Arizona. Title of his presentation was “Using Clinical Indicators to Reduce Peri-Anesthesia Recovery Time Following Outpatient Tonsillectomy.” He was mentored by Dr. Chadi Makary, Otolaryngology at Martinsburg & Dr. Hassan Ramadan, Chairman department of Otolaryngology at WVU.
The Department of Otolaryngology congratulates Zalzal for his achievement. The last time a WVU Otolaryngology resident won this award was in 1995.
