Report for America: Seeking 'ground truth' in Appalachia

Join us Tuesday (Jan. 9) at 6 p.m. at the WVU Media Innovation Center in Evansdale Crossing for a conversation with top local journalists, including Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Eric Eyre, Dana Coester of WVU and 100 Days in Appalachia, and Roxy Todd of WVPB and Inside Appalachia, led by  Charles Sennott, head of The GroundTruth Project which is launching its new Report for America initiative here in West Virginia and in Eastern Kentucky, part of a national effort to place emerging journalists in local newsrooms to revitalize American journalism.
Panelists: 

Eric Eyre is a statehouse reporter for the  Charleston Gazette-Mail . At the  Gazette-Mail, he has covered education, health and business. Eyre won the  2017 Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting.

Dana Coester is creative director and executive editor for  100 Days in Appalachia . Dana also serves as creative director for the WVU Media Innovation Center and leads the Center’s Knight-funded Innovators-in-Residence program. 

Roxy Todd is a reporter and co-producer for  Inside Appalachia, a production of West Virginia Public Broadcasting with help from public radio stations in Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Moderator: 

Charles Sennott is the Founder and Executive Director of  The GroundTruth Project. Sennott is also the co-founder of  Report for America, a new partnership between The GroundTruth Project and Google News Lab that places reporting corps members in news organizations that serve under-covered areas across the country.
