Only WVU employees and students who are using two-factor authentication can now reset their Login accounts independently at the self-service site, login.wvu.edu. Information Technology Services made this critical security change over the weekend to better protect personal and sensitive information.
If you have been locked out of your account and cannot remember your challenge questions, the Reset Account button will work only if you are already using WVU’s two-factor protection. If you are not enrolled in two-factor, you must call the ITS Service Desk at 304.293.4444.
Two-factor authentication is a second layer of security besides your password. It requires you to confirm your identity with two things – something you KNOW and something you HAVE. Soon, you will have to PROVE IT’S YOU to access many critical systems containing sensitive and private data, including Portal, Office 365, eCampus, DegreeWorks, WVU+kc, Student Evaluation of Instruction and much more.
The simple online process to enable two-factor on your smart phone takes about two minutes. Download the free Duo Mobile app from your app store, then activate your account by visiting login.wvu.edu, clicking the “My Login” button and following the instructions. You’ll find detailed instructions and a helpful FAQ and more at twofactor.wvu.edu.
Direct any questions to ITSHelp@mail.wvu.edu or call the ITS Service Desk at 304.293.4444.
