Update on delay in pay deposits

WVU campus

West Virginia University employees who did not receive their pay as expected on Friday (Nov. 24) began seeing the bank deposits on Saturday and throughout the weekend into today (Nov. 27), depending on the various processes of their particular financial institution.

“We are fully aware of the hardship this caused for many of our employees, and took several actions during the weekend to assist as needed,” said Rob Alsop, vice president of strategic initiatives who oversees several of the units involved. “While we believe most have received their pay at this point, if anyone is still being affected, we ask they reach out to their supervisors or contact the University.”

Those who have yet to receive a deposit, either as “pending” or fully processed, should either call 1-855-WVU-NEWS (1-855-988-6397) or send an email to payrollhelp@mail.wvu.edu.

Officials within multiple WVU departments, including Payroll and Employee Processing Services, Information Technology Services, are already reviewing the circumstances that led to the delay and how to ensure it is not repeated.

“While clearly this is something that should not have happened, we would be remiss if we did not recognize the efforts of the many individuals at WVU who responded without hesitation and worked diligently to reach solutions,” Alsop said.
