MountaineerThon partnered with eight fraternities Sunday in the WVU Interfraternity Council to host pediatric patients treated at WVU Medicine Children's, the state's only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

The event, themed "Fall Fraternity Carnival," kicked off at the Sigma Phi Epsilon house, where the children and their families joined fraternity members for a cookout and Halloween activities. Following the cookout, the families traveled to the Pi Kappa Alpha house to enjoy carnival games and food. The event concluded at the Alpha Gamma Rho house, where guests enjoyed a campfire, cornhole and s’mores.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the collaborative spirit fostered by the fraternity and sorority life community in supporting MountaineerTHON,” said Matthew Richardson, director of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. “It is obvious that our members planned this event with the utmost sense of philanthropic responsibility, a core value of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.”

Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), Kappa Alpha Order, Sigma Alpha Mu, Phi Kappa Psi, and Sigma Chi fraternities also participated in the event.

MountaineerThon is a WVU student organization that works year-round to raise money for WVU Medicine Children's. Their main event, a dance marathon, takes place each March, where hundreds of WVU students dance for eight hours to raise funds and awareness.

“I am extremely proud of the Greek Life community for their support of MountaineerThon,” said Levi Huff, senior human resources management major and executive director of MountaineerThon. “It is truly amazing to see what a motivated group of students can accomplish, and, their continued support and success is a testament to the impact that WVU students can have by helping us imagine brighter futures for the kids that we serve.”
