Assistant Professor of Political Science Bill Franko will discuss the new economic populism during a panel on Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. in the Mountainlair's Shenandoah Room.
Message: In their new book, Assistant Professor of Political Science Bill Franko and Christopher Witko, an associate professor of political science at the University of South Carolina, argue that the U.S. government's failure to address rising income inequality should not be very surprising because federal inaction in the face of emerging economic problems is the norm in American history. The authors show that the public is not only cognizant of rising inequality, but that this growing awareness is associated with more egalitarian political and policy changes. Franko will discuss the new economic populism during a panel on Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. in the Mountainlair's Shenandoah Room.
