This year’s Campus Read has sparked conversations across multiple disciplines and sociology will give their perspective with "Hidden Sociologies: A Sociological Discussion on Hidden Figures," at 6 p.m. Oct. 24 in G-20 Ming Hsieh Hall. Daniel Brewster, instructor, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, will lead a panel discussion with Mandy Sanchez, lecturer; Heather Washington, assistant professor; and Victoria Velding, visiting assistant professor They will discuss the way sociologists see this story through race, sex and gender. Additionally, they will examine how social change and social movements have done little to change the status of women of color.
