STEPS is always looking to remain on the forefront of medical simulation education. We have recently upgraded our Lucina birthing simulator with the new SymEyes from CAE HealthCare adding realism to their assessment. Lucina’s mechanical eyes and eyelids have been replaced by organic light-emitting diode technology that provides us the ability to change her eye color and display symptoms and conditions. She can now display jaundice, hemorrhage, keyhole pupil, cataracts and bloodshot or droopy eyes. Since Lucina can function as a non-gravid patient, we can display cataracts as well for realistic geriatric scenarios. Just another example of technology enhancing education for our healthcare students and professionals. Contact STEPS for theses and other healthcare simulation needs.
