WVU faculty, staff encouraged to support Gold Blue and You Campaign

Gold Blue and You

West Virginia University faculty and staff have the opportunity to invest in their University through the WVU Foundation’s Gold Blue and You Campus Campaign which kicks off April 3.

Through the Campus Campaign, WVU employees can give to programs or funds across the University and WVU Medicine they feel passionately about, including scholarship funds, specific departments/units, academic programs, and special faculty/student support initiatives.

During the 2016 Campaign, more than 1,400 WVU faculty and staff gave nearly $2 million. These gifts supported education, research, faculty, staff and student experiences.

“Our faculty and staff support our students every day, and when they give a gift to WVU it helps enhance the WVU experience for all Mountaineers in and out of the classroom,” said Mary Esposito, associate director of the Foundation’s University Fund.

“Donating to the University is a great way for faculty and staff to support their favorite WVU projects and programs. All contributions, big or small, make a difference,” added Julie Russell, assistant director of WVU HSC annual giving.  Both Esposito and Russell are heading up this year’s Gold Blue and You Campaign.

Chad Mezera is assistant dean of online programs for the Reed College of Media. He and his wife, Cathy, a teaching assistant professor in the Reed College, are proud supporters of the faculty and staff campaign.

“We chose to participate in the Gold Blue and You Campaign because we want to support students in our College,” Chad said. “Through this Campaign, we were able to designate precisely where our contributions would go and ensure that they directly benefit students.”

Information tables to help kick off this year’s Gold Blue and You Campaign will be staffed on Monday, April 3, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on the downtown campus at the Mountainlair and near Cavanaugh’s café at the Health Sciences Center.  Faculty and staff can pick up an informational brochure as well as a flying WV cookie and Campaign button.

Donations to the Gold Blue and You Campaign can be made through payroll deduction for as little as $3.00 per paycheck, per fund designation. Contributions may also be made by phone at 304.284.4000 or online at www.goldblueandyou.com   Descriptions of funds and more information on giving can also be found at the Campaign website.  All WVU faculty and staff will be receiving printed materials about the Campaign and further information on how to contribute.

Contributions to the Campus Campaign are made in conjunction with A State of Minds: The Campaign for West Virginia’s University. The fundraising effort by the WVU Foundation on behalf of the University runs through December.
