Lavender Graduation schedule announced

For the fourth consecutive year, we will honor our LGBTQ+ graduating students (undergraduate and graduate) for their accomplishments and for contributing to the University’s diverse community of gender identities, gender expressions and sexualities.

Lavender Graduation will be held at 3 p.m. April 30 in the Erickson Alumni Center, Ruby Grand Hall. Reception and graduate check-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. We are honored to have Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at New York University P. Tim Valentine as our Alumnus Speaker.

Any undergraduate or graduate student who will be graduating in May or August, or has graduated this past December, who wishes to participate in the ceremony will need to pre-registser (https://goo.gl/JCe4sO) online no later than April 17 with the following information:

  • Chosen name
  • Email
  • Phone Number
  • Degree earning
  • Major/Minor
  • Number of guests
  • Academic achievements
  • Outstanding service
  • Other community involvement
  • Plans after graduation
  • If you identify as an ally, please share with us how you support and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.

Once registered, we will send you a confirmation email with additional information. Each graduate will receive a certificate of recognition and rainbow honor cords that can be worn at WVU’s Commencement Ceremony.


Friends and family are welcome to attend to offer congratulations to the graduates.
