Washington Center to host ‘Do Universities Need Radical Reform?’

f

Join the Washington Center for Civics, Culture, and Statesmanship as it hosts Brandon Warmke, associate professor of humanities at the University of Florida, at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 10 in Armstrong Hall, Room 209.

The talk will focus on Warmke’s perspectives.

According to Warmke, universities have problems and need some kind of reform, but what are the problems and what kind of reforms are needed? He also argues that higher education’s pathologies are too pervasive, too widespread, and too entrenched for universities to be able to make the necessary reforms themselves. He concludes that if universities are to be repaired, the reform must be radical: it must come from those outside the ivory tower.
