As she begins her first fall semester at WVU, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Beverly Wendland talked with WV News about some of her areas of focus.
From the article:
Wendland’s efforts to familiarize herself with WVU have extended well beyond Morgantown.
During her first months, she visited the University’s presence at the West Virginia State Fair, toured the Green Bank Telescope with physics and astronomy professors, and attended the Jamboree, where she saw medical and academic contributions firsthand.
Those experiences have reinforced for Wendland the importance of the University’s role as the state’s flagship, land-grant R1 institution.
“I cannot think of another university in this country that is more important to its state than WVU is to West Virginia,” she said. “I just feel like that is such a big responsibility, and it’s an honor and a privilege to be a part of the team that is helping make that even more true.”
