Jason R. Falvey, a clinician-scientist who specializes in physical therapy, will present at noon Friday (Sept. 8) in the Health Science Center, Room 1905. His research focuses on identifying and addressing disparities in outcomes among elderly patients recovering from traumatic injuries and illnesses.
Falvey is a board-certified clinical specialist in geriatric physical therapy and has several years of experience working in home healthcare settings. He also maintains an active clinical practice at the Baltimore Veterans Administration Hospital.
He is one of two physical therapists to be funded by the Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award from the National Institute on Aging, and he is a principal investigator of a NIH study to examine the impact of neighborhood and policy on the health of older adults with dementia in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He has authored 57 peer-reviewed publications, which have appeared in high-impact internal medicine, geriatrics and surgical journals, including JAMA Internal Medicine. His clinical and research expertise has been featured in local and national news outlets, including the Washington Post.
Falvey earned his DPT from Husson University, his doctorate in rehabilitation science from the University of Colorado and completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in epidemiology of aging at Yale School of Medicine.
