Just over a year ago, the Office of the Provost launched its Most Valuable Player Awards to recognize outstanding teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by Service MVP awards during the Fall 2020 semester. Now, the Provost’s Office is honoring COVID-19-related research with a final round of MVP Awards.

The Research MVP Awards recognize scholars who have done important COVID-19-related research. These individuals were identified by academic leaders across campus for conducting research that has contributed to our understanding of the virus and significantly impacted our ability to prevent its spread and lessen its adverse effects. Honorees include faculty, staff and students who contributed a wide range of scholarly activity and applied research since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I continue to be impressed by the WVU community’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the expertise across our institution,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Maryanne Reed. “The Research MVPs stepped up during a very challenging time to lend their expertise, re-focus their work to respond to an unprecedented health crisis and serve their communities, locally and globally. My team and I are honored to work alongside such talented and committed colleagues.”

All recipients are listed on the MVP Awards website under Research MVP Awards, which showcases a narrative timeline highlighting their activity since March 2020. Each awardee will receive a limited edition WVU MVP lapel pin and information card.
