West Virginians are seeing the effects of the changing climate and researchers across the state are studying what it means for West Virginia. Over the next few weeks, WV Rivers Coalition will highlight these scientists and their research through our virtual Climate and Water Lunch & Learn Series.
During the live webinars, the public has the opportunity to learn first-hand from the WVU researchers on the front line of the climate crisis.
May 29, 11 a.m. Omar Abdul-Aziz, an associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at WVU, will discuss his work on climate impacts, increasing hurricanes and storms and freshwater flooding in the coastal areas.
June 5, 11 a.m. Nicolas Zégre, firector of the Mountain Hydrology Laboratory at WVU, will share his research on water security and climate change from a West Virginia perspective.
The West Virginia Rivers Coalition is the statewide voice for the conservation and restoration of the state’s rivers and streams. The Coalition’s mission is to ensure that all West Virginians are able to enjoy clean rivers and streams.
