The West Virginia University Residence Hall Association hosted this year’s Central Atlantic Regional Business Conference and raised more than $1,500 to help Empty Bowls Monongalia County.

About 200 people representing 38 colleges and universities attended this student-led conference to conduct the business of the region. Michael Amato, treasurer of WVU RHA, was recognized as the outstanding delegate for the region. Fundraisers organized during the conference brought in donations of $1,108 and student attendees painted 100 bowls to be used at the luncheon. Additionally, True Blue t-shirt sales generated $460 for Empty Bowls - a non-profit dedicated to eliminating food insecurity in Monongalia County.

The next fundraiser to support Empty Bowls is the soup and bread luncheon tomorrow (Feb. 23) at Mylan Park from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants will be able to sample soups from local restaurants and take home a hand painted bowl. Tickets will be available at the door and online for a minimum donation of $20 per person.
