This year the Gardner Winter Music Festival, held Friday (Feb. 22) and Saturday (Feb. 23) at South Middle School in Morgantown, marks its 41st year.  On-stage performances run from 7 - 11 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. Workshops on various instruments, song, and dance are free with admission and are scheduled to start between 11 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Saturday. The Friday night swing dance will be held at 7:30 p.m. and the Saturday night square dance will be held from 8 -10 p.m., both in the South Middle School cafeteria. Informal jam sessions take place throughout South Middle School both days from open to close. Workshops are aimed at all levels and include most of the old-time instruments. Instruments to borrow are available for some workshops.

This Festival features traditional Appalachian music with on-stage performances, workshops, informal jam sessions, a Friday-night swing dance and a Saturday-night square dance. Listen to and learn to play old-time music on acoustic instruments including lap and hammer dulcimer, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, upright bass and banjo. Come and play or just come to listen. The admission fee is $3 on Friday, $5 on Saturday, with *free admission* for musicians with an instrument and for children 7 and younger.
