WELLWVU, Dining Services downtown farmers market returns to campus

The community is invited to shop at the weekly WVU downtown farmers market, Thursdays beginning Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. across from the Mountainlair.

Each Thursday, local vendors will sell seasonal produce including apples, peaches, corn, peppers and much more. In addition to the local farm vendors, some of the participants in this year’s market include Mountain People’s Co-Op, Garcia’s Latin Market, Mockingbird Hill, Quantum Bean Coffee. WVU Dining Services will also be on hand to offer samples of dishes featuring locally-sourced vegetables and fruits, along with recipes and nutritional information.

This is the seventh consecutive year of the WVU downtown farmers market. WVU is committed to bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to students where they live and work. WELLWVU’s goal of increasing students’ consumption of fruits and vegetables is aligned with Healthy Campus 2020 objectives designed to set targets for campus wellbeing across the United States.
