Police to alter Morgantown traffic for MountainFest Parade of Bikes

The Morgantown Police Department will be altering traffic patterns on Saturday (July 22) for the MountainFest Parade of Bikes. Parking for automobiles will be restricted on High Street beginning at 10 a.m. Motorcycles only will be permitted to park on High Street during the parade.

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. The parade route will start with the motorcycle motorcade at the WVU Coliseum, which will travel south on Monongahela Boulevard toward downtown Morgantown. The motorcade will travel up Campus Drive and turn right onto University Avenue onto the “loop.” The motorcade will then progress past the Mountainlair traveling toward High Street and the normal parade route down High Street will be followed.

Traffic in the downtown area will be restricted during the parade. Traffic will not be permitted to enter the downtown area during the parade by way of the Walnut Street Bridge or the Pleasant Street Bridge. Traffic traveling toward the downtown area on Willey Street will be detoured off of Willey Street to Prospect Street and restricted at University Avenue and Willey Street. Motorists entering the downtown area from Beechurst Avenue will be delayed during the parade.
