Seeking black or African American individuals for research participation

You are invited to participate in a research study conducted through the Department of Psychology at WVU. The purpose of this project is to assess social and physiological factors that may be related to anxiety outcomes by race. Participants will be asked to think of personal worrisome topics and complete a questionnaire about life experiences and attitudes toward mental illness. Participants will also be asked to provide a saliva sample and to wear a heart rate monitor while thinking of personal worrisome topics.  The session should take no more than two hours.  Participants will receive $20 compensation or two hours of extra credit in participating psychology courses for their time and participation. Approval of this research is on file with the WVU Institutional Review Board.

To be eligible to participate, you must:

  • Be between 18 and 58 years of age
  • Be fluent in English
  • Identify as Black/African American
