George Longenecker, professor emeritus of WVU's Landscape Architecture Program, purchased a paper bark maple seedling 40 years ago and planted it in the front of the old agricultural sciences building on Evansdale Campus. Recently, the tree was uprooted and moved to the front entrance of the new agricultural sciences building.
